What is the process for vetting volunteers?
Our volunteers undergo a vetting process that includes references and an interview and may include background research, adhering to the requirements of each city.
What safety measures do you recommend when a volunteer visits a home?
For safety, we recommend that you have someone else be present during a volunteer's home visit. We also conduct follow-ups after each call to ensure the safety, effectiveness, and professionalism of the assistance provided.
What guidelines are provided to volunteers?
Volunteers are given clear guidelines and protocols to ensure that their interaction with recipients remains strictly professional.
Do you offer support to single dads as well?
Of course. We are here to help all single parents.
Do you offer support to parents with adult children?
No. Our focus is on providing assistance to single parents who are dealing with the needs of raising minor children.
Does ITAV only help divorced single parents?
No. We understand that there are a multitude of circumstances that can lead to a parent raising children on his or her own and we are here to help whether one is divorced, going through the process, or dealing with other circumstances.
How does ITAV spend the donations it receives?
Donations help us cover needs for single parents for which no volunteer is available, especially in case of emergency. In addition, some funds go toward overhead costs.
